These participatory textile gatherings form part of an ongoing artistic practice exploring repair, memory, and collective care. Through initiatives such as Make Mends Meet, people come together to mend garments or stitch simple forms while sharing stories connected to the fabrics they bring. The slow accumulation of stitches and conversations reveals how acts of repair can strengthen both material and social fabrics.

Participants gather around textiles in need of repair. Through simple stitching techniques we mend clothes while sharing stories, skills and company. The act of repair becomes a way of strengthening the social fabric.

Workshops can be adjusted for a wide variety of settings and places:

  • Community mending circles
  • Museum / gallery workshops
  • Textile storytelling gatherings
  • Educational workshops for schools
  • Festival or public event participation

These gatherings are part of an ongoing artistic practice exploring repair, language and the fragile fabric of our social lives. Repairing textiles is a quiet act of resistance against a culture of disposability.

Workshops can be adapted for 10–40 participants.

Materials can be provided or participants bring garments in need of repair.

Suitable for museums, cultural spaces, community centers and festivals.
