Kathrin’s  work explores language, memory, and power through textiles, thread, and asemic writing.

I’m interested in how meaning is constructed, hidden, and repaired through cloth. Using thread, ink, and fabric, I work with textiles as a universal language—slow, tactile, and resistant to the speed and certainty of written words.

Many pieces use hand stitching and asemic writing to create marks that resemble language but remain intentionally unreadable. The desire to read what cannot be fully understood creates a space for reflection on memory, power, and belonging.

Alongside exhibitions, my practice unfolds through participatory gatherings such as Make Mends Meet, where people come together to repair clothes and textiles while sharing stories. These collective acts of stitching transform repair into a social and artistic practice—strengthening not only fabric, but the social fabric that holds communities together.

— social fabric and collective care
— slowness and handwork as resistance
