Curtains Progress

Curtain

The curtains are hanging and I’m really glad they’re finished, or at least ‘hangable’.

Curtains
From the inside.
I think I’ll sew a few more doilies on and cut the back away, the effect is quite nice I think.

Off to start a new project…..

I love this idea! It lets the light in but offers privacy. This is exactly what I need for my bedroom.

Did you make the doily yourself or is it vintage?

I have a vintage doily collection, but I'm not sure if I want to use them or not… I suppose they wouldn't be damaged in the process and can be recovered when I retire the curtain…

Beautiful! Tahnk you for sharing this wonderful idea. My mother has been lacking curtains for the summer cottage and this idea would fit perfectly to a house that was built in 1920's. You did a nice nice job!

@Anonymus: I took a vintage doily (because here in upstate NY there are plentiful). You can always stitch it on fairly loose, so when you are tired of the curtain, the doily could just be separated. It's a satisfying project – it works fairly up fairly quickly and looks quite remarkable. (And cotton curtains are really easy to find…)

@Susanna: Thanks! They would look really good in a summer cottage. Makes me immediately think of old Russian Dachas…

This is beautiful, from outside and inside!

That's really clever! I have a small collection of vintage doilies (they are easy to find for no more than a dollar or two around here) that I've "rescued" and I've been trying to find a way to use them without damaging them in anyway…I just need the curtains!

Looks good! The 2nd image is especially nice with the sun coming in. Love that you are already off to start a new project…have fun with it!

    Nicely done!

It's so nice…. love how It look from outside…

Your curtain is gorgeous! It could also probably be done with multiple doilies of different sizes to let even more light in. Thanks for sharing such a great idea!
